My fiancé confessed that he knew he wanted to marry me about a month into dating. I’ve heard, ‘When you know, you know,’ but they don’t tell you how soon guys know.

While meeting ‘the one’ has a lot to do with luck, there are a few key traits that show long-term potential very early on in dating.

You’ve mastered thoughtful gestures

Three weeks into dating I bought my now-fiancé house slippers to wear in my apartment. At the time, I thought nothing of it. He’d mentioned on a previous occasion that he likes wearing slippers inside — he hates the feeling of socked feet on the floor.

I wanted him to feel comfortable at my place, so I bought him slippers.

They were nothing special, just a pair of blue rubber slides I grabbed from a local store on my way home from work. I was apologetic that they weren’t better quality — I had been in a rush to get home that day.

Yet, he was thrilled with them. He later admitted that this small gesture made him certain that he wanted a future with me.

It was just so thoughtful,” he told me.

Sure, the wrong person will see kindness as uncool or over-the-top, but for the most part we’re all just looking…
