This week, my For You Page was filled with women stitching this TikTok of a man telling women, “Look, some of you ladies are going to have to settle.”
The point he’s trying to make is that there aren’t enough ‘good guys’ out there to meet our standards, so some of us are going to have to put up with a sub-par man.
At this point, I’m actually not sure if it’s a bit or if men really don’t get it. (Although, judging by the responses to comments from women on the video, the latter seems most likely.)
I find it comedic, and a little concerning, that men think the only two options are: 1) settle down with Prince Charming or 2) settle for a man who feels so entitled to women.
Babe, women settle by choosing to be single.
Apparently, this concept is a challenging one to grasp.
It’s not the 1950s anymore
This is going to sound harsh, but the brutal reality is that we don’t need to put up with men anymore. That doesn’t mean we don’t want a man, it just means that we don’t need one for survival.
Naturally, this has raised the stakes for what women are willing to accept in a partner.
